The truth about Neil Holterhus: We found Neil last November/2015 when he was working on a new build in Morinville, Alberta. The house was finished outside but at stick stage inside. After some discussion, Neil custom finished the house for us. To complicate matters we lived in Ontario. Neil is a small builder – one house a year. When there were questions or problems we talked to Neil and Neil took care of it. He was very much hands on and his trades were well organized. The work was top notch and the site was spotless. He even did custom closets which is something he likes to do. He replaced usual frustration associated with contractor – client relations with openness and enthusiasm. He completed the house to agreed specifications, cost and ahead of schedule. After completion Neil visited often to ensure everything was completed to our satisfaction. We approached Neil to come up with a solution to a design flaw in the original build of our home. During the conceptual phase Neil was able to take our vision and complement it with his technical requirements and recommendations. We felt confident in his ability when he articulated his plan and approach to us. Through his sketch and description we were able to visualize the end product. Moreover, during the actual renovation/addition he was efficient , kept a clean work area, and was considerate in our day to day living environment.

We were very pleased with work done by Stone Hearth Homes for our main floor kitchen/laundry/bathroom renovation! Renovations are difficult and inconvenient, no matter what, and we feel that they worked hard to alleviate the mess and stress that typically comes with a renovation the best they could. Everything was completed in the timeline that was set, we were communicated with regularly and always knew what was going on and what the next steps were. We paid exactly what we were originally quoted and our expectations were definitely met, and exceeded by the beautiful final results! I would definitely recommend them for a renovation!

When we decided to do a home extension we were naturally nervous about hiring a contractor. There are so many horror stories out there. After meeting Neil to discuss our project we immediately saw his genuine personality, his willingness to listen to what we wanted and his enthusiasm for the work he does. We immediately felt comfortable. After hiring Neil he wasted no time getting to work. He took care of everything in a timely and professional manner. He was very forthcoming with all costs and possible delays with added requests or changes. He did a wonderful job of communicating everything with us and thus there were no surprises. Even when dealing with unexpected delays in obtaining permits from the county he was able to accommodate our build schedule and ensure all his trades were lined up ready to go. We have heard many horror stories and words of caution when building a house from several family and friends. Thankfully building with Stone Hearth Homes we never had to go through that experience.
